Repression in Hambach - support our friends, lets go to the climate and reclaim the field camp en aout.

On tuesday the 11th of June the occupation of a field near the open cast coalmine in Hambach was attacked by cops. They stormed in with their batons and pepper spray and arrested 5 people, one of whom was beaten unconscious in the police station because he was refusing to give his fingerprints. They used helicopters with heat sensors and dogs to threaten the people on camp and those who were arriving in solidarity.

In the last weeks RWE (one of the biggest energy providers in germany)and the cops (who often get paid by both institutions at the same time), tried to make the activists appear like terrorists by accusing them of over 100 crimes. The official reason for this intervention it seems was an accumulation of branches and sticks that could hardly be called a barricade...

Some consider this response proof that previous actions have been upsetting RWE and thus been sucessful. Some think that this criminalisation might be a preparation for an eviction of the camp, and/or a strategy to scare people from coming to the climate/reclaim the field camp this august.

Lets respond like the people in Istanbul did: The more violence the state used against the protesters, the more people came to support them, now there are millions and the state has a serious problem! This will be your Taksim Square, this will be our Gezi-Park!
