Meitheal and tree planting August 10th & 11th 2011, Poll a tSomais

On the weekend of 10th and 11th of August, we will be gathering in Poll a tSomais for a weekend of meitheal community work in solidarity with local residents opposed to the Corrib Gas Project. There will also be a tree planting in remembrance of Niall Harnett, who passed away earlier this year.

Meitheal work will take place on the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday - helping out in the garden, on the bog and in the fields. This may also be a good time to share any gardening (or other) skills that you may have so please bring along any materials that you may need. We have a space available for group discussions during the day, so if you would be interested in facilitating a discussion, get in touch and we can try to schedule a time for this.

On Sunday afternoon we will have the tree planting for Niall. If you have a poem or or song to share please bring it along.

We don’t have a permanent camp base at the moment so we can’t offer accomodation but there will be space to camp and Kilcommon lodge will also be open for guests (Call - 097 84621 or email Rooms 20europp/dorms 16europp). Lunch will be provided but cooking facilities for dinner will be limited so please bring along your own food.
